It's pool season!!

We took the pool cover off for a day outside with the whole family. We have new bathings suits and toys all ready for Gage's first summer =] The pool was a little to chilly for his and my tatse so we were only in there for a little before we lowered the temp in the jacuzzi and hung out in there =]

Gage is just about ready to start crawling. He's got the idea, now he just needs to figure out how to apply it! Right now he's in the "Army Crawl" stage, it's sooo cute! I take all the videos I can, whenever I can, because Im at work alot. I love to sit on my breaks and watch them on my camera... For some reason it makes me miss him less when I'm gone =)

Lately, I've been realizing how much I work and how little I get to see him while he's awake. It's starting to get to me a little. I remember my Mom being home with us all the time when we were kids and how great that felt to always have her there. I know Gage won't think twice about it, hopefully, but it's killing me to miss these precious moments with him. And i've recently came to terms with the fact that there's a chance I'll miss his first crawl, walk, and even words..

Every day I drive to work, I have to tell myself over and over again that I'm doing the right thing, i'm providing a life for him... A life where we wont struggle, where we can live in a safe neighborhood, and take family vacations (all of the things my parents gave to me). I've been reading "Chicken Soup For The Working Mom's Soul" and it's been a life-saver! It's good to know that every working Mom has this mental battle, not just me. Johnny Jump-up...

Grandma and Grandpa Richeson set up Gage's Johnny Jump-Up the other day. He seems to like it just fine. He doesnt quite jump, but he twirls around and makes goofy noises... Which is entertaining enough. =]

Easter Time..

We went and saw the Easter Bunny today at the mall. We got Gage a "My 1st Easter" outfit and Elise a new spring dress to wear. I was a little scared about how they would turn out, I must admit. Elise is shy about smiling sometimes because of her "windows" or missing front teeth, so I was almost sure she'd have her "stern" face she usually has for pictures. And Gage, Well, most tiny babies have a fear of 6-foot furry things, so I figured he would cry.

When We got there, both the kids before us in line were all dressed up and super excited... Until they saw Mr. Bunny. I have never heard children cry soo loud and hard. Bloody murder, I swear. I was sure it was going to rub off on Elise and Gage. Luckily, Elise was too busy rolling around on the ground in her brand new dress to notice and as long as Gage has his hand to naw on, he's set =]

Gage loved the Easter Bunny and because I take pictures of him almost every 5 seconds, he new exactly what to do when he saw the flash. And Elise felt so pretty in her dress she had a huge smile to match. SUCCESS!

Gage got a new ride today and he loves it!! Its a bouncer, walker, and activity center all in one. Way worth the money for these priceless smiles.

At Gage's 4 Month Check up his Pediatrician said we should start experimenting with some solids, Introducing a new food flavor every week. It's not his primary source of nutrition, but we're getting him used to new tastes and getting him used to getting fed with a spoon. I took a video of his first time trying Organic Carrots. I think he actually liked it!

We took Gage to get his photos done while he was still relatively little. He's growing way too fast and it's getting harder and harder to remember what he was like when he was born..

Long overdue update...

Alright, so I know it's been a long time. I've just been so caught up in spending time with Gage that everything else seemed to have taken a back seat!! My maternity leave went by so fast, I feel like I should have another month or two to stay home... But I don't. I went back to work on the 15Th. Jimmy and I have it worked out to where I will work mornings, and he will work nights. this way, Gage is with at least one of us for majority of the day.

Changes with Gage: He laughs a ridiculous amount, all smiles. I have never seen a baby so happy. He thinks that he can talk, and he already has different tones to his voice... Sometimes stern (He can work his eyebrows) and sometimes super cheery and squealy..He puts everything that comes near his face into his mouth, and I must say he's got quite a grip on him :) You can see a couple of white spots on his lower gums where his teeth will soon be making their first appearance. His eyes stayed blue!! Gage is a 1/4 Filipino, with orangish hair, and blue eyes HAHA!

Everyone said not to blink, that children grow up way too fast.. And I, remembering how dreadfully lonnnggg 9 months was, figured they were exaggerating. But holy cow were they right! I can't even rap my my head around how big he is getting. I love my little man!!!

Post Christmas Thoughts..

Christmas time last year I was single (well not married anyway), childless, and my biggest thought was what I was going to get for Christmas.. Boy did that change!! Now I'm married, have a Son and a 6 year old Step-daughter, and now I am Santa. Talk about a head spin!! As you get older, it seems that the "magic" of Christmas dwindles. Less excitement, presents, and imagination.. And more reality. I have to say that this Christmas proved to me that the magic never really goes away.... It's just magic in a different way. True, I won't ever get to be a little kid leaving cookies for Santa and waking up at the crack of dawn to run down the hall to a tree FULL of presents again, But what I get now is better. Now I get to be the one who creates those memories for Gage. Sure he wont remember this Christmas or even the next few to come, but I will. Any who, here are the pictures I took this year:

His first teddy bear that Jimmy and I made for him at Build-A-Bear and his swing from Grandma and Grandpa Richeson. He got both of those presents before Christmas but I decided to put a bow on them anyway:

Okay, So Gage is getting so big sooo fast, I cannot believe he is already 7 weeks. I love watching him grow, watching him recognize things, and watching him laugh (It's the funniest thing). Jimmy gave him the nickname Gage-a-saurus because he tends to sound like a crazy teradactyl when he grunts and laughs. Here are come recent pix of the little guy:

Pumpkin Patch!!

We Went to the pumpkin patch today to look for some pumpkins (of course). We found a pumpkin patch that also has animals to pet, a corn maze, and some swings and things for kids to play on. Really cute place, glad we went there instead of just going to Vons =] Apparently it's also a christmas tree farm in december with lights and other fun stuff so im sure we'll be back.

Jimmy recently got hired at World Market (Cost Plus) as a supervisor =] It was a long search but it seems to be a great fit for him. I took this pic of him in his apron and name tag right before he headed off to his first day. I know, I know... Im a sap. What he doesnt know is that I balled like a baby right after he left. Wednesday August 12th was Jimmy's birthday, here are some pics..

The cashier at target who rang up the nerf gun set asked me if it was for one of my kids and I couldnt help but laugh so hard.. I explained to him that it was actually for my 29 year old husband. I think it took every inch of him to keep from laughing and then he made a very good point... He said that staying young is good for the soul. I realized that beyond Jimmy being caring, loving, and funny.. He has a great soul and an infectous positive attitude. Im a lucky lucky girl and we had a blast celebrating his birthday with the family.

And happy (very) belated birthday Chad, Melissa, and Kaiya... Love you guys!!

Im Still trying to get used to the idea of "growing a child", that's what Jimmy calls it haha. Everytime he kicks (which is alll the time) im just amazed.

Good News Bear

We went to Zion the Emergency hospital yesterday for our Ultrasound with a Perinatologist, needless to say, we were nothing short of freaking out. Let me recap our journey with baby so far...

2 weeks ago at our 1st ultrasound they informed us that they saw what was possibly an effusion (fluid around the baby's heart) and also that I had Complete Placenta Previa (placenta covers the cervix completely), two things you dont want to happen in pregnancy. After they tell you this, all they can say is don't worry yet and the famous "everything will be okay". But let's be honest...For a first time mother, this is scary, im AM going to worry, and I feel like NOTHING is okay. I spent the next 2 weeks up until the very hour of my next ultrasound on the internet trying to find all the info I could on these two conditions. Doctors were really no help and my Nurse Midwife was out of town (but of course). All I could find on the internet were horror stories of women on bedrest, women bleeding throughout pregnancy, babies born at 24 weeks, and yada yada. I was a complete wreck. I forgot to mention that on top of all that, kaiser ordered more bloodwork on me to screen for chromosonal diseases, which we had originally declined in the first trimester because we thought, "What are the odds anyway?". Silly us. Apparently effusion is sometimes a sign visible in ultrasounds related to trisomy 21 (Downs syndrome) and Trisomy 13. Awesome right? Righhhhhhttt

So back to yesterday. We show up, complete nervous wrecks (well, me anyways. Jimmy is really great about being positive) and ready for whatever news they had. They forgot to book our appointment which tacked on a whole extra hour of anxiety but finally we got in. One hour and 84 sonogram pictures of our little guy later, the technician gives us the news.. The report from the last ultrasound stating that there was a complete previa was a TYPO. Yup, the thing that has had me on the edge of my seat and on the verge of tears for 2 weeks was a flippin typo. Also, there were no signs of an effusion in this ultrasound and my blood work was normal. A crazy crazy 2 weeks, BUT, our baby boy is extremely healthy and nothing left to worry about (except for getting through the upcoming HOT summer).

My cousin Melissa and her family have a blog and I love love love logging on and seeing what little Kaiya is up to and the cool new stuff Melissa is making.. I think its a great way to keep distant family close. She asked me if I was planning on "Blogging" and at first, I could have swore I wasn't going to... But the more I thought about it, the more I realized it's actually a great Idea especially with baby on the way, I can keep you all posted.

I'm going to be spending lots of time on the computer now, since I was just deemed a "High Risk" pregnancy I can't really get out all that often. My goal is to update this as often as I can with all the appointments and info so i can keep my family in the know, as well as keep myself busy so I dont go insane once I go on bed rest!
